Today we looked at two war memorials here at school. The first memorial we looked at is the Pohutakawa tree on the corner of Rata and Orua Street. Did you know this was the first war memorial for the Gallipoli campaign in New Zealand?
The next war memorial we looked at was the Memorial Gate under the flag pole. We noticed that some names had poppies besides them, and realised these soldiers were the ones who died.
