Making Réwena Bread for Matariki

Rēwena parāoa (literally, "leavened bread,"[1] also spelled rewana) is a traditional Māori sourdough potato bread.

To conclude our classroom celebration of Matariki, we made Réwena bread and baked it in the hall kitchen, then ate the bread for lunch.

It was DELICIOUS! (But Mr Dobson thought it needed a touch more salt!)

Temporary and Permanent changes

We have begun an investigation into the temporary and permanent changes of substances. We looked at what happens when bicarbonate of soda is combined with a weak acid (vinegar)

 What did we see?
 What did we hear?
 What did we smell?
Could we get the baking soda or vinegar back after the chemical reaction?
